They landed at Lake Tahoe where a car was waiting, then drove to the Touch of Love Wedding Chapel where they were married. Doc got tickled at the thought of them being Mr. and Mrs. Bracket and kept laughing from time to time. The Dover Sole was as excellent as Will had described. They did a little shopping, had fun gambling then turned in early so they could consummate their marriage.

The next morning, as planned, they flew to New York to meet Will parents.

Chapter 32

New York was magnificent. Hundreds of Taxis were zipping around. Millions of people were walking up and down the sidewalks and the buildings were so tall they looked like they were touching the clouds. Now Doc could really understand why they called them skyscrapers. She couldn't even imagine what type of men it would take to build structures that huge. It was breathtakingly beautiful, in a scary way. Thinking about all that concrete and steel towering above you was a little unsettling.

A limo picked Will and Doc up at the airport. Will knew the driver and he asked him to take this particular rout through downtown New York so he could point out some of the historical sites and see the look on Doc's face when she looked up at the buildings around her. It took over an hour to drive through downtown New York and out to what Will called "the country" to Will's parents home. On the drive they passed many large estates and Doc commented on how large, pretty and old they were.

When the limo turned onto a private brick road and passed through enormous, ornate iron gates Doc could see a sprawling mansion, complete with gate house, guest house, carriage house and stables.

In her mind she knew, but asked anyway, "Where are we?"

"Home," Will, answered.

"Wholly shit Batman. You did it to me again. My God, it's bigger than the White House."

"Not quite. Its three stories, not including the attic and wine cellar. Father has one of the oldest and extensive wine collections on the Eastern seaboard. I could always tell what my father thought of a guest by what vintage wine he had brought up for dinner. The place has forty-six rooms and I don't believe I've seen them all. The old servant quarters are in the rear, but now we call them domestic help, which is considered politically correct and they live in resident now. The older structures are maintained for historical purposes," Will explained.

A butler was walking down the steps as the limo came around the drive. He arrived just as the car stopped and opened the rear door for Will. Doc expected Will to call him "Alfred," but to her surprise, the butler said, "Master William, how delightful to see you."

"And you, Wilfred. It's good to be home. I trust you've been taking great care of mother and father?"

"Of course, and they are in good health.You did give your mother quite a fright by getting shot, twice. If you
